StudioCanal has struck a UK/Ireland deal with Protagonist Pictures for Richard Ayoade’s comedy The Double.
Film4 (which co-developed and will co-finance) has the UK terrestrial TV rights.
StudioCanal also released Ayoade’s feature debut Submarine.
The project will shoot starting in May starring Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska, about a man who is annoyed by his doppelganger.
The deal was negotiated between Alison Meese and Berenice Fugard for StudioCanal and Ben Roberts of Protagonist Pictures.
Meese said: “With Submarine, Richard Ayoade proved himself a director with incredible talent and a unique style. StudioCanal are thrilled to be working with him on his next visionary film.”
Ayoade co-wrote the script with Avi Korine.
Producers are Amina Dasmal and Robin Fox of Alcove Entertainment. Andy Stebbing will co-produce.
