Principal shooting of Calm Chaos (Caos Calmo) has begun in Rome this week. Produced by Fandango and RAI Cinema the picture is directed by Antonello Grimaldi and stars Nanni Moretti who also adapted the screenplay from the award-winning book by Sandro Veronesi.

Calm Chaos marks a rare turn for Moretti who typically directs the films he stars in. It is also his first film foray after he and long-time producing partner Angelo Barbagallo separated amicably this year. (The latter is currently busy with Marco Tullio Giordana's latest film Crazy Blood).

Calm Chaos is the story of a company manager, played by Moretti, who is stunned by the sudden death of his wife played by Valeria Golino (Respiro). Not knowing how to react, he begins to spend his days loitering outside his daughter's school.

Moretti's 2001 Palme D'or winner The Son's Room, which he wrote, directed and starred in, also treated the theme of families dealing with sudden death and the difficulties faced in the grieving process.

Director Antonello Grimaldi has many TV directorial credits, peppered with feature films like the 1995 Bits and Pieces, and acting credits in films including Gabriele Muccino's first film That's It (Ecco Fatto) as well as And Forever in my Mind (Come te nessuno mai).
