Some of the world’s leading actors and directors are heading to the Lido for for the 82nd Venice Film Festival (August 27-September 6) including Oscar winners Guillermo del Toro, Kathryn Bigelow, George Clooney and Julia Roberts. The question is: Can Venice regain its crown as the key launchpad for awards glory following last year’s Cannes-dominated season? The last best picture Oscar winner to launch at Venice was Nomadland in 2020.

Screen previews all the titles playing across the main sections of the Venice, plus guides to the events’ principal sidebars. We hope our comprehensive coverage will help readers — whether attending or not — navigate what may seem rather sprawling line-ups of new films- and the odd series.
