Magnolia Pictures confirmed on Tuesday  that it has acquired US rights to Lars von Trier’s hotly anticipated Nymphomaniac after TrustNordisk screened footage at the EFM.
Senior vp of acquisitions Dori Begley and director of acquisitions Peter van Steemburg brokered the acquisition with TrustNordisk CEO Rikke Ennis and head of sales Susan Wendt.
Magnolia handled US distribution on von Trier’s previous film Melancholia. Nymphomaniac is in post and expected to be complete by the end of the year.
Charlotte Gainsbourg leads an international ensemble in the story of a woman who recounts her epic sexual odysseys to a man who saves her from a beating.
The cast includes Stellan Skarsgaard, Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Christian Slater, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Udo Kier and Jean-Marc Barr.
