12th edition of the festival will also feature three world premieres of new Romanian films in its Romanian Days section.

British director Stephen Frears is to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Transylvania International Film Festival (May 31-June 9).

Frears will be presented with the award at the Cluj National Theatre on June 8, where Czech filmmaker Jiří Menzel will also receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.

In the traditional 3x3 section of the festival, presented by HBO, Frears will be celebrated alongside French director Olivier Assayas and Israeli-born documentary filmmaker Eyal Sivan. Three films of each filmmaker will be screened at the festival.

This year’s festival will also host three world premieres of new Romanian films in its Romanian Days section, organised by artistic director Mihai Chirilov. They are Alexandru Maftei’s Miss Christina, Tom Wilson’s The București Experiment and Dan Chișu’s Déjà Vu.
