Golden Lola winner Hannah Herzsprung and Perfume's Karoline Herfurth have joined the cast of Stephen Daldry's The Reader, which has been shooting in Berlin and Goerlitz since the end of September.

Herzsprung, who is one of the Rising Stars at this month's Hamptons International Film Festival, was named Best Newcomer Actress at this year's Bavarian Film Awards for her role in Four Minutes and received a Golden Lola for her role in Alain Gsponer's Life Actually (Das Wahre Leben).

Herfurth appeared in Tom Tykwer's Perfume - The Story Of A Murderer last year and was in the cast this summer - along with Herzsprung - for Uli Edel's Der Baader Meinhof Komplex.

The adaptation of Bernhard Schlink's bestseller, which stars Nicole Kidman, David Kross and Ralph Fiennes, was recently awarded $561,500 (Euros 400,000) production funding by the Leipzig-based regional fund MDM.
