A glitteringsupporting cast has been finalised for the currently-shooting big screenversion of US TV comedy hit Strangers With Candy. Called, not surprisingly, StrangersWith Candy: The Movie,the film is a prequel to the series about a 46 year-old former junkie andprostitute who returns to high school in a bid to start over.

Amy Sedarisreturns as heroine Jerri Blank with other series regulars Paul Dinello andStephen Colbert, while joining them are Matthew Broderick and Sarah JessicaParker, Ian Holm, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Dan Hedaya, Kristen Johnson, JustinTheroux and Allison Janney.

Dinello, who isdirecting, also wrote the project with Colbert and Sedaris. Mark Roberts andLorena David of Roberts/David Films are producing with Worldwide PantsIncorporated serving as executive producers.

"This is thegreatest assemblage of cast, crew and production companies since Ben-Hur ... on second thoughts to hell with BenHur," Dinello, Colbertand Sedaris said in a joint statement.

Principalphotography began on June 28 in New Jersey and will end in mid-August.Worldwide Pants Incorporated is represented by CAA. Cinetic Media willrepresent distribution rights.

The TV seriesplayed on US cable network Comedy Central.
