Gale Anne Hurd's Valhalla Motion Pictures, Platinum Studios and Top Cow Productions have hired Jenna Dewan and Luke Goss to star in Magdalena.

The project is based on Top Cow's comic book about a young woman who learns she belongs to a line of female warriors descended from Mary Magdalene and must harness the power to thwart a supernatural force that threatens the world.

Dewan, who will appear later this year opposite Tim Allen in comedy The Six Wives Of Henry Lefay, will play the lead character Patience. Goss, who stars in Hellboy II: The Golden Army, will play the secret agent play Kristof dispatched to protect the Magdalena lineage.

Hurd and Platinum Studios chairman and CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg are producing while Valhalla Motion Pictures president Gary Ventimiglia, who brought Dewan and Goss to the project, serves as executive producer with Top Cow CEO Marc Silvestri and Randy Greenberg of The Greenberg Group, who helped negotiate the deal.

Valhalla Motion Pictures and Platinum Studios are currently developing a feature based on the upcoming Platinum comic book Final Orbit.

Dewan and Goss are both represented by Lena Roklin of Luber Roklin Entertainment. Dewan is also represented by the William Morris Agency and Goss is handled by Fortitude and DW Management.
