The second London UKFilm Focus (LUFF) (June 27-30) has unveiled its programme for this year'sevent, which includes 12 world premieres - up from 8 last year.

Among the worldpremieres (see full list below) are such sought-after titles as Neil Jordan's BreakfastOn Pluto, Stephen Frears' Mrs Henderson Presents and Nick Love's TheBusiness. In total, 43 titles will be screened at the LUFF.

Several leading US buyers are expected in town for the second edition of anevent which last year earned plaudits for organisation and friendliness, butleft some visitors distinctly underwhelmed by the quality of new films ondisplay.

"There are some very strong titles on this year's list - titles which willbe absolute must-sees for buyers," Pathe International's Alison Thompson, one of the driving forces behind LUFF, commented of the 2005 programme.

Thompson acknowledged that Pathe's three premieres, Breakfast On Pluto, MrsHenderson Presents and horror picture The Descent have already beensold widely. "But we're happy to showing the films to our buyers,"Thompson said. On July 1st, Pathe plans to hold a special marketing seminar fordistributors who have bought The Descent.

This year's event will follow broadly the same pattern as last year. Screeningswill be held at London's National Film Theatre and at One Aldwych. Buyers willbe wined and dined, put up in a luxury hotel, and invited to a series ofspecial receptions. One key change is that invitations have been issued to USdistributors (who last year were obliged to pay their own way.)

"There is very definitely a need and purpose for the event," Thompsonsaid. "We've only had one year and we've made enormous headway. It looksas if the second year is going to be even stronger than the first."

The London UK Film Focus is funded and supported by Film London, UK FilmCouncil, Film Export UK, London Development Agency, British Film Institute, UKMedia Desk, UK Trade & Investment and The Waldolf Hilton.
