EXCLUSIVE: Seoul-based sales company M-Line Distribution has sealed a slew of deals on action drama Haunters, directed by Kim Min-suk, including a sale to Japanese distributor Twin Co.
The film, starring heartthrobs Gang Dong-won and Koh Soo, has also gone to Madman for Australia and Dream Movie for Singapore. Released in Korea at the end of last year, the film revolves around a bank robber who can hypnotise people but comes across an ordinary bank clerk whom he can’t control.
M-Line has also closed a string of sales on comic war drama Battlefield Heroes, directed by Lee Joon-ik, who is renowned for commercial historical movies such as Blades Of Blood and The King And The Clown. Battlefield Heroes, which was released in Korea in January, has been sold to Germany’s KSM, China’s e-stars, Taiwan’s Catchplay and IRIB for Iran.
Catchplay has also snapped up M-Line’s romantic comedies Shotgun Love and Petty Romance – the latter was also sold to Malaysia’s Hwa Yea.
Hwa Yea also bought M-Line’s 2AM Show, a concert film featuring boy band 2AM, taking rights for Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. The band is popular across Asia and playing a tour in South-East Asian countries from April to June.
M-Line’s slate also includes Uzbekistan-Korea co-production Hanaan, currently in post-production, which is being billed as the Uzbek answer to Trainspotting.
