Mandate Pictures has green-lit a feature based on the action comedy short Jay And Seth Vs The Apocalypse from co-writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

Mandate is in talks with directors and has earmarked a 2009 production start on the adaptation of the short, which starred Rogen and Jay Baruchel as hapless young men who attempt to prevent the end of the world. The short has been a hit with the online community and received wide exposure on YouTube.

Mandate president Nathan Kahane will serve as executive producer alongside story creators Goldberg and Jason Stone. Rogen and Goldberg will maintain full creative control for the film and Tendo Nagenda will oversee the project for Mandate along with Kahane.

'We're very happy Seth and Evan chose Mandate to ride shotgun,' Kahane said following interest from several companies. 'These are two of the funniest guys in Hollywood.'

Rob McEntegart, Mandate's head of business affairs, and Dan Freedman, senior vice president of business affairs, negotiated the deals for the company.
