Focus Features has promoted Howard Meyers to executive vice president of business affairs.

Meyers will serve as co-head of the department alongside executive vice president of strategic planning, business affairs and acquisitions Avy Eschenasy. Based in the company's West Coast offices, he reports directly to Focus ' chief executive officer James Schamus.

The company's business affairs departments in Manhattan and the West Coast will report to Meyers and Eschenasy.

Meyers has served as Focus' senior vice president of business affairs at Focus since the company launched in 2002.

'This promotion recognises Howard's key contributions to Focus' continuing growth,' Schamus said. 'His counsel - in all senses of the word - is invaluable, and the company will continue to benefit from his and Avy's joint expertise.'

'Howard is an excellent negotiator and highly respected throughout the industry,' Eschenasy added. 'I couldn't ask for a better partner in running the business affairs department.'

Prior to the formation of Focus, Meyers served as senior vice president of business affairs at USA Films. Before that he was a business affairs executive at MGM and United Artists, and a legal affairs executive at Warner Bros.
