The Massachusetts island of Nantucket will host the inaugural Nantucket children’s Film Festival from August 9-14, 2009.

The event is presented in association with the well-established Nantucket Film Festival, which is now in its 14th year. That festival runs June 18-21 with special guests including Harold Ramis and Ben Stiller.

The new kids festival will screen more than 30 features, documentaries and shorts from 10 countries - the programme will be announced in July.

There will also be activities such as a family fair, a pancake breakfast and movie, a storybook reading and ice cream social.

Founders of the children’s festival are Davad Cokonis and Nantucket Film Festival veterans Mystelle Brabbee and Holly Waterfield.
