EXCLUSIVE: Taiwan’s Wanin International Visual Enterprise is making its Hong Kong Filmart debut with a slate of four titles led by Hsu Fu-Hsiang’s Don’t Father Me, starring Aaron Kwok, Wang Po-chieh and Chen Yi-han.
The fantasy family comedy follows a loser son who trades places with his bitter disabled father when an accidental soul swap occurs, forcing them to face each other’s hardships. A first look at the film can be seen above.
Hsu previously directed 2025 hit campus romance Lovesick and 2021 horror comedy Treat Or Trick. Chen was most recently seen in Sunshine Women’s Choir, Taiwan’s biggest local film of all time.
Also on Wanin’s inaugural slate are three genre titles: horror film Hold To Death: Hand In Hand, which marks the feature-directing debut of Alex Wang and is set to open on April 17; action thriller Kill At Once by Hung Shih-hao and Jack Hsu, which stars Tommy Chu (Hong Kong blockbuster The Last Dance), Li‑Li-ren and Fu Mengpo; and horror thriller Host, directed by Danny Pang.
Hold To Death: Hand In Hand is close to securing deals for CIS and Southeast Asia, while the other three projects are in post-production for release in Q4 and 2027.
All four projects are backed and produced by Wanin, which was a major investor in acclaimed 2024 hit The P g, The Snake And The Pigeon and is the largest shareholder of Taiwan’s Vieshow Cinemas.
Wanin is headed by general manager Benson Chen and assistant vice president Sula Ku.
