EXCLUSIVE: Republic of Story and The British Blacklist’s UK access-to-market programme for Black and global majority producers, No Password Required, has unveiled the 11 producers taking part in its second edition, and the lineup of guest speakers including BFI London Film Festival director Kristy Matheson and UK agent and CEO of The Artists Partnership Roger Charteris.
Up-and-coming producers taking part include Camilla Wren of Frolic Films, who has worked on Netflix series One Day and was the BFI development executive on Limbo and After Love, plus Hannah Samuel-Ogbu, founder of theatre and film production company Tigers, Not Daughters, whose credits include as an assistant script editor on BBC series Boarders.

Further guest speakers include Bafta-winning casting director Aisha Bywaters; co-creator and creative director of We Are Parable, Anthony Andrews; investment director at Media Finance Capital, Nathan Adabadze; Netflix UK-Ireland marketing vice president Rajiv Nathwani; and Bankside head of acquisitions and development, Sophie Green.
The programme is already underway, and runs until November, with National Lottery backing from the BFI Creative Challenge Fund. It gives the cohort access to leading industry professionals and specialist expertise across development, production, financing, legal, casting, marketing, festivals, awards, sales and distribution, and culminates in a dedicated access-to-market event, connecting the cohort directly with leading sales and distribution companies.
The programme is delivered by Victoria Thomas, producer at Republic of Story and course leader at London Film School, and Akua Gyamfi of The British Blacklist, who last night (October 13) celebrated its Blacklisted Honours annual awards, in which Aaron Pierre, Ashley Walters and Lashana Lynch were among honourees.
Supporting Thomas and Gyamfi in the No Password Required programme delivery are producers Fiona Lamptey and Sara Bonakdar and returning industry partners My Smash Media, the Film Distributors’ Association and Film Export UK, plus The Farm Post Production.
