Black Bear has struck a deal with Lionsgate to take over theatrical distribution of Guy Ritchie’s In The Grey starring Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Eiza González, and scheduled an April 10 release.

Lionsgate was originally on board to release the action title theatrically on January 17 2025 and pulled it from the schedule in late 2024 when it became clear the film would not be ready in time. In the deal with Black Bear, Lionsgate remains the film’s digital and pay-TV distributor.

Ritchie wrote and directed the story about a covert team dispatched to recover a billion-dollar fortune stolen by a despot. Kristofer Hivju, Fisher Stevens, and Rosamund Pike round out the key cast.

Producers are Ritchie and Ivan Atkinson for Toff Guy, John Friedberg for Black Bear, and Dave Caplan for C2.

Run by Ben Kramer as president, Black Bear’s US distribution business launched last year with a short November theatrical release for TIFF selection Christy starring Sydney Sweeney before it went to digital platforms in December.

The company’s US pipeline includes Shelter starring Jason Staham on January 30, Telluride and TIFF drama Tuner with Dustin Hoffman and Leo Woodall on May 22 (Black Bear); and Matthew McConaughey in The Rivals Of Amziah King on August 14.
