‘A Place For Her’

EXCLUSIVE: Melisa Godet’s social drama A Place For Her (La Maison des Femmes), starring Karin Viard, has sold to a slew of buyers for Ginger &Fed.

Deals have been done for Spain (Alfa Films), Italy (Satine), Belgium and the Netherlands (Cineart), Switzerland (Filmcoopi), Canada (Les Films de A à Z), Germany (Lighthouse), Hungary (Mozinet), and Austria (Panda Lichtspiele Filmverleih).

The film, set in a women’s shelter, has garnered 475,000 admissions in France to date and won the audience award at the 2026 Glasgow Film Festival.

The film is based on La Maison des Femmes de Saint-Denis, a women’s shelter outside of Paris for survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse and inspired by the centre’s founder Dr Ghada Hatem.

Viard stars as a doctor and her team including a midwife, a young intern and a nurse as they navigate balancing their personal lives with their professional dedication to providing care. Co-stars include Laetitia Dosch, Oulaya Amamra, Cannes opening and closing ceremony host Eye Haidara, Pierre Deladonchamps and Juliette Armanet.

It is produced by Une Fille Productions’ Emma Javaux and co-produced by Pathe Films, Chapter 2 Productions and France 2 Cinema.
