The Motion Picture Association (MPA) has named Carla Sanchez Armas managing director of Latin America.

Armas is based in Mexico City and joins the MPA on September 14, reporting to Gail MacKinnon, senior executive vice-president, global policy and government affairs.

The new hire will lead the Association’s policy development and advocacy on core industry priorities such as copyright, content protection, and market access and production issues throughout the region, focusing on Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.

Armas most recently served as country brand and international media coordinator for the office of the presidency.

Her various roles in the Mexican government saw her design and implement the communications strategy for Mexico’s G20 Summit, and she has been a local congresswoman in the legislative assembly of Mexico City.
