Paul Thomas Anderson’s Los Angeles-set noir tale starring Joaquin Phoenix and an all-star ensemble will screen at the festival on November 8.

The centerpiece gala event will feature an on-stage conversation with Anderson.

Inherent Vice is the first adaptation of a Thomas Pynchon novel and recently premiered at the New York Film Festival.

Warner Bros will release it on December 12.

AFI FEST runs from November 6-13.
