EXCLUSIVE: UK actor Jack Farthing has signed to star in Andy Sommer’s Glenn Gould Lover, which has been boarded by France tv distribution.
The English-language biopic about the Canadian pianist Glenn Gould is being produced by Luxembourg’s Amour Fou, Germany’s Amalia Film and France’s Eddy Cinema. Sophie Mousel, David Kross and Jonathan Zaccaï round out the international cast.
The film tracks Gould’s journey from making the radical decision in 1969 to abandon the stage at the peak of his career and connecting with an enigmatic photographer who happens to be married to Gould’s closest friend as the boundaries between music and emotion begin the blur.
Glenn Gould Lovers is Sommer’s debut fiction feature after several music-focused documentaries.
Julia Schulte, SVP International Sales at France tv distribution said the project has “high international potential” and described it as “the singular love story (inspired by true facts) of the most renowned and eccentric pianist of his time at an important turning point of his career.”
