Telluride has announced its annual selection of films to play in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains and they include Noah Baumbach’s Venice entry Jay Kelly, as well as Cannes picks Urchin from Harris Dickinson, and Joachim Trier’s grand prize winner Sentimental Value.
The festival also brings first looks from Chloé Zhao’s TIFF-bound Hamnet with Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal, Aneil Karia’s Hamlet starring Riz Ahmed, Mary Bronstein’s Sundance hit If I Had Legs I’d Kick You featuring a career-best performance from Rose Byrne, and both Richard Linklater’s 2025 films Blue Moon from Berlin and Nouvelle Vague from Cannes.
Selections include Scott Cooper’s Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere starring Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen, Morgan Neville’s Paul McCartney and Wings documentary Man On The Run, and more Cannes selections in the form of Oliver Hermanus’s The History Of Sound, Kelly Reichardt’s The Mastermind, and Kleber Mendonça Filho’s The Secret Agent.
Silver Medallion awards will go to Baumbach, Highway 99 A Double Album director Ethan Hawke, who also stars in Blue Moon, and Jafar Panahi, whose selection It Was Just An Accident won the Palme d’Or in Cannes this year. The programme will include a compilation of clips, an on-stage interview and a screening of the recipient’s new work.
Tessa Ross, the House Productions co-founder and former head of film and drama at Channel 4, will receive the Special Medallion at the presentation of Ballad Of A Small Player.
The festival runs August 29-September 1.
