UK filmmaker Julia Jackman’s 100 Nights Of Hero will close the 69th BFI London Film Festival (LFF, October 8-19).
Emma Corrin, Charli XCX, Nicholas Galitzine, Maika Monroe, Amir El Masry, Richard E Grant and Felicity Jones star in the adaptation of Isabel Greenberg’s graphic novel of the same name.
100 Nights Of Hero, which is making its world premiere closing Venice Critics’ Week out of competition, is the second film by Jackman following Bonus Track in 2023.
The new film is described as a feminist fairy tale that centres on a bet between two friends in an alternative world as a neglectful husband places a secret wager to test his wife’s fidelity, while her maid helps her fend off a seductive visitor.
Stephanie Aspin and Helen Simmons produce for the UK’s Erebus Pictures, with Grant S Johnson for US company Project Infinity.
Independent Film Company will release 100 Nights Of Hero in the US on December 5. WME Independent is handling international sales and co-repping North American rights alongside CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group. A UK-Ireland deal had yet to be confirmed at time of writing.
Bonus Track world premiered at the LFF in 2023.
“The BFI London Film Festival has championed my work since my very early shorts, so bringing 100 Nights Of Hero here is profoundly special,” said Jackman.
“Julia Jackman is a filmmaker of enormous talent whose work we’ve had the pleasure of presenting in previous editions of the festival,” added Kristy Matheson, BFI festival director. “We were genuinely excited to see 100 Nights Of Hero and it won us over immediately with its witty scripting, pitch perfect performances and a joyfully rebellious heart.”
The full LFF line-up will be announced on September 3. Rian Johnson’s Netflix film Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will open the festival, with Hikari’s Rental Family, Mona Fastvold’s The Testament Of Ann Lee, Jonatan Etzler’s Bad Apples and Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly among the titles already announced.
