Prime Video has acquired US rights from Lionsgate to the Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel action comedy Shotgun Wedding.

The streamer previously acquired select international rights including English-speaking territories and Latin America when Lionsgate International launched pre-sales at AFM 2020.

Jason Moore directed Shotgun Wedding  which takes place at a destination wedding where the supposedly happy couple have gathered their lovable but very opinionated families for the celebration just as they begin to get cold feet.

Matters become even more complicated when the entire party is taken hostage and the couple must save their loved ones, if they don’t kill each other first.

The feature shot in Dominican Republic and wrapped in spring 2021. The cast includes Jennifer Coolidge, Sonia Braga, Cheech Marin, Selena Tan, and Lenny Kravitz. The project went through several lead actor changes after Ryan Reynolds and then Armie Hammer had been lined up before Duhamel signed on to star opposite Lopez.

Mark Hammer wrote the screenplay and producers are Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman, who produced Lionsgate’s Wonder, as well as Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina.
