‘Everything That Is Wrong With You’

Slovenian filmmaker Urša Menart’s Everything That’s Wrong With You and Macedonian director Milcho Manchevski’s documentary Good People are among the six world premieres screening as part of the competition at the 2026 Sarajevo Film Festival (August 14-21).

Menart’s film screens in the narrative feature competition and follows a woman who befriends a nurse working in Germany over the internet. It is the Slovenian filmmaker’s second feature after 2018’s My Last Year As A Loser, which won a special mention at the Ljubljana film festival.

The narrative feature competition also includes Sandra Wollner’s Everytime, winner of the Un Certain Regard prize at Cannes this year; Florian Serban’s Locarno premiere You Don’t Belong Here; and Kosara Mitić’s 17, which was nominated for best first feature at the Berlinale.

In the documentary feature competition, five of the 13 films are world premieres, including Manchevski’s Good People about the survivors and heroes of a nightclub fire in a Macedonian town that killed 63 people.

“At a time when films are more accessible than ever, the value of a film festival lies not in making films available, but in returning them to public life,” said Sarajevo creative director Izeta Građević.

“Over more than three decades, the Sarajevo Film Festival has earned the trust of an audience willing to embrace films it might never have chosen on its own. This is an audience that does not come to the cinema seeking confirmation of its own taste, but for the excitement of discovering a different perspective on the world.”

Emily Watson presides over the jury which will be responsible for choosing the winners for the Heart Of Sarajevo awards, including a €16,000 prize for best narrative feature film.

Pawel Pawlikowski’s Fatherland opens the festival on August 14.
