Screen Scotland names interim executive director to replace Isabel Davis

David Smith, director of Screen Scotland, is to take on the role of interim executive director of Screen Scotland, after Isabel Davis leaves to join the BFI as director of the Filmmaking Funds on October 2.

Smith was appointed as director of Screen Scotland in late 2019, reporting to Davis. He trained in media law before forming Glasgow-based documentary production company Matchlight, which he ran for a decade.

While at Screen Scotland, Smith has co-authored Screen Scotland’s six-year strategy with Davis and supported the recovery and reopening of the Filmhouse in Edinburgh.

Details of the recruitment process for Davis’s replacement will be unveiled at a later date.
