Shepperton Studios in Surrey, England, has officially submitted plans for a £500m redevelopment and expansion.
The application to Spelthorne Borough Council seeks approval for the private sector development project which aims to deliver an increase in stage space of around 465,000 sq.ft, plus additional support facilities. The council are now considering the proposal.
The expansion plans were first announced in June.
According to the studio, the expansion will secure 1,500 direct jobs in the local area, and could add an additional 1,200 when completed.
The development aims to bring Shepperton, part of the Pinewood group, up to the scale with sister facility Pinewood Studios.
Recent films to have shot at Shepperton include Mary Poppins Returns, Doctor Strange and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
