Sony Pictures is set to handle global distribution outside India of Ramayana, the upcoming fantasy action-adventure from Prime Focus Studios.
Ramayana will be released internationally in multiple language versions, including an English-language version.
Based on the 5,000-year-old Sanskrit saga, the film is produced by Prime Focus founder Namit Malhorta, also CEO of visual effects company DNEG, and directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The cast is led by South Asian stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, and Hans Zimmer and A R Rahman composed the music.
Action choreography is by Terry Notary and Guy Norris and production design by Ramsey Avery and Ravi Bansal.
The film is set to open worldwide in November, to coincide with the Diwali festival of lights. Prime Focus will distribute in India. A sequel feature is also in the works.
