The Hôtel Martinez in Cannes

The White Lotus is en route to the Cannes Film Festival. HBO has confirmed that its Emmy-winning original series has begun filming on the French Riviera.

The series’ fourth season will shoot in Cannes, St. Tropez and Monaco. Filming will also take place in Paris, though the story will be set entirely along the Côte d’Azur.

The series, which previously focused on murder-filled excursions to Hawaii, Italy and Thailand, will in its fourth season centre on a new group of hotel guests and employees over the span of a week, all taking place during the Cannes Film Festival.

The series will showcase two White Lotus hotels, the White Lotus du Cap, which will film at the Airelles Château de la Messardière in St. Tropez, and the White Lotus Cannes, shot at the Croisette-situated Hôtel Martinez, known for welcoming celebrities and industry heavyweights during the festival.

While filming will be underway in the region during the upcoming edition of the actual festival (running May 12-23), HBO would not comment on whether or not the series will film during the event.

This year’s ensemble cast includes Helena Bonham Carter, Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Dylan Ennis, Corentin Fila, Ari Graynor, Marissa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, AJ Michalka, Kumail Nanjiani, and Nadia Tereszkiewicz.

The White Lotus is created, written, and directed by Mike White and executive produced by White, David Bernad, and Mark Kamine. The air date for season four is not yet confirmed.
