Sony worldwide marketing head Marc Weinstock is leaving his post at the tail end of a disappointing summer that delivered flops in the US for After Earth, White House Down, The Smurfs 2 and Elysium.

The studio’s digital marketing chief, Dwight Caines, is in line to succeed Weinstock to the post, according to reports. Weinstock joined Sony in 2000.

Earlier in the month, svp of media relations Steve Elzer confirmed he would depart the studio in December after the August hire of Charles Sipkins to head the corporate communications department.

Elzer has served 12 years at Sony and prior to that handled publicity at New Line for eight years.
