EXCLUSIVE: Signature Entertainment has acquired Polish filmmaker Kasia Adamik’s neo-noir thriller Winter Of The Crow for UK-Ireland release, from the UK’s Hanway Films.
Lesley Manville and Tom Burke star in the Toronto and San Sebastian premiere. A British psychiatry professor arrives in 1981 Warsaw, Poland, to find martial law has engulfed the city. Amid the chaos, she becomes a hunted fugitive.
Producers are Poland’s Olga Chajdas and Stanislaw Dziedzic, Luxembourg’s Katarzyna Ozga and Nicolas Steil and the UK’s Sam Taylor.
The feature was backed by the Polish Film Institute, Film Fund Luxembourg and the UK Global Screen Fund’s co-production Fund.
Adamik writes alongside Sandra Buchta and Lucinda Coxon, inspired by short story Professor Andrews In Warsaw by Olga Tokarczuk.
The deal was negotiated between Signature’s chief commercial officer Elizabeth Williams and Hanway Film’s head of sales Nicole Mackey. Williams said, “Winter Of The Crow is an atmospheric, tense and powerful thriller, skillfully directed by Kasia Adamik and with a powerhouse performance by British acting legend Lesley Manville at its heart. We love films like this and are excited to release it in 2026.”
Mackey added: ”Once again, we are delighted to be working with Signature on Winter Of The Crow which showcases yet another skillful performance from Lesley Manville.”
