Kristen Stewart, fresh off her Oscar nomination for Spencer, will star in Saint Maud director and Bifa winner Rose Glass’s romantic thriller follow-up Love Lies Bleeding for A24 and Film4.

The project is reportedly set in the world of competitive bodybuilding and based on a screenplay Glass co-wrote with Weronika Tofilska. The official synopsis provided by the companies describes it as “a romance fuelled by ego, desire and the American Dream”.

A24 will produce alongside Andrea Cornwell for Lobo Films and Oliver Kassman for Escape Plan Productions, both of whom produced Saint Maud. Film4 developed the project alongside the filmmakers and will co-finance with A24, which handles the global release.

Screen Star Of Tomorrow 2018 Glass earned two Bafta 2021 nominations for Saint Maud and won the Douglas Hickox Award for best debut director at the Bifas. The psychological horror premiered in TIFF 2019 although its subsequent release was delayed due to the pandemic.

Coming up for A24 are Alex Garland’s Men starring Jessie Buckley, Ari Aster’s Disappointment Blvd. starring Joaquin Phoenix and Celine Song’s directorial debut Past Lives
