The 56th San Francisco International Film Festival will takes place from Apr 25- May 9 2013.
The long-running festival combines premieres, international competitions, documentaries, new digital media work, live music performances and gala events.
The festival’s numerous awards include FIPRESCI and audience honours, as well as the $20,000 Golden Gate Award for best documentary feature, the $15,000 Best Bay Area documentary feature and $20,000 in combined awards for shorts, youth-produced and family films. The New Directors Prize awards $15,000 to a director of a first-time narrative feature.
The 2012 festival presented 174 films from 45 countries and reportedly drew more than 70,000 admissions.
