Looking to emulate its successful collaborations on British comedies such as Bend It Like Beckham, WakingNed Devine and The Full Monty, Fox Searchlight has picked up worldwide rights toDebbie Isitt's upcoming ensemble comedy Confetti.

Starring Martin Freeman, Jessica Stevenson and Alison Steadman,among others, Confetticentres on three couples who compete in a bridal magazine contest to find themost original wedding.

BBC Films, Wasted Talent and Screen West Midlands are co-financingthe project, which is being produced by Wasted Talent chairman Ian Flooks andIan Benson.

"From minute one, we were immediately enamored with Confetti's unique concept and witty execution," FoxSearchlight president Peter Rice said.

"We felt we had something very special here and we aredelighted to see that our instinct has been backed in this way - there isnobody better than Fox Searchlight to bring British comedy talent tointernational audiences," BBC Films chief David Thompson added.

Fox Searchlight executive vice president Joseph De Marco andsenior vice president of acquisitions Tony Safford negotiated the deal with BBCFilms' head of business and legal affairs Isabel Begg, and head of rights andcommercial affairs Jane Wright.

Fox Searchlight executive vice president of production ClaudiaLewis will oversee the project for the studio.
