Senator Film will release Wim Wenders' next feature film The Palermo Shooting, which begins shooting in Dusseldorf from September 17 before moving to Sicily.

This is the second time Wenders and Senator have worked together after the director's internationally feted documentary Buena Vista Social Club took more than $7.5m (Euros 5.4m) on its release in German cinemas in 1999/2000.

The Palermo Shooting sees Wenders filming in his home town of Dusseldorf for the first time after a career spanning four decades.

The film will feature fellow Duesseldorfer Campino, lead singer of the punk band Die Toten Hosen, who has been cast in the lead as a successful photographer experiencing an existential crisis. Finn's quest for an answer to the meaning of life sends him on a journey from Duesseldorf to Palermo.

Backing for the Wenders Images production has come from Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and Filmstiftung NRW.
