Sony Pictures Classics will fully finance Jonathan Demme's upcoming
family drama Dancing With Shiva, which as previously announced will
star Anne Hathaway.

The company holds worldwide rights to the story, which takes place
over the course of a wedding as an estranged daughter returns home to
her family and stirs up old emotions.

Debra Winger, Bill Irwin, Rosemarie DeWitt, Anna Deavere Smith and
Tunde Adibempe round out the ensemble cast.

Demme is producing through his company Clinica Esetico from an
original screenplay by first time writer Jenny Lumet, and is gearing
up for a September shoot in Connecticut.

'Sony Classics is my all time favourite movie company so it's a dream
come true to be making this picture with them,' Demme said.

'It has been our desire to work with Jonathan Demme since we began our
careers,' a statement from Sony Pictures Classics read. 'We have had a
friendship with him for many years and he has always been a great
supporter of our company.'
