New Wave Films, the new UK distribution company set up by former Artificial Eye bosses Robert Beeson and Pam Engel, has made its second acquisition of the Berlin market, taking Daydreams, the latest feature from Turkish maestro Nuri Bilge Ceylan from Pyramide International.

Like New Wave's first pick-up - the Dardennes' The Silence Of Lorna - Daydreams is in post-production and is a strong candidate for an official berth in Cannes. Bilge's previous features Climates (2006) and Distant (2002) both screened in competition at the festival. Both were also handled by Beeson and Engel when they were still at Artificial Eye.

Territories already sold on Daydreams include France, Benelux, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, CIS and Baltics and India. The drama stars Ahmet R'fat Sungar, Hatice Aslan, Yavuz Bingöl. It is produced by Yuzler Sesler Organizasyon Oyunculuk and Pyramide Productions.
