EXCLUSIVE: Voltage Pictures will launch international sales at AFM next week on the psychological crime thriller Hyde starring Holt McCallany, Nathalie Emmanuel, Bruce Greenwood, and David Harewood.
Graham and Parker Phillips (Rumble Through The Dark) wrote and directed the story centred on Detective Grimes, a haunted investigator (McCallany) drawn into the underbelly of a crumbling metropolis as he hunts a serial killer.
Emmanuel plays Detective Doran, the officer assigned to shadow Grimes as the investigation takes an increasingly disturbing turn, while Greenwood is Henry Monroe, the court-mandated therapist whose sessions with Grimes expose the detective’s troubled past. Harewood portrays Lieutenant Robert Malloy, who struggles to hold together an underfunded police department and pull Grimes back from the edge.
McCallany’s credits include Mindhunter and The Iron Claw; Emmanuel has been in Game Of Thrones; Greenwood in The Fall Of The House Of Usher; and Harewood in Homeland and Blood Diamond.
“Hyde is exactly the kind of bold, atmospheric thriller that resonates with audiences around the world,” Alexandra Cocean, Voltage president, global sales and distribution, said. “Graham and Parker have crafted a gripping, character-driven story that explores the darkest corners of the human psyche, and Holt McCallany is perfectly cast to lead this exceptional ensemble.”
Graham and Parker Phillips are producing through Phillips Pictures alongside Jason Tamasco and Zak Kristofek for Traction. Cassian Elwes serves as executive producer alongside Keith Danko, Bailey Rotsky, and IDEA Film’s Ionut Ionescu and Andreea Apetre. Voltage and Elwes jointly represent US rights.
Traction’s Tamasco and Kristofek said, “From the second [Voltage] read the script, they implicitly understood the film and the world we set out to create.”
