The Match Factory has added Argentinian film-maker Lisandro Alonso's Liverpool as the fifth title in its sales lineup for next month's Cannes Film Festival.

Alonso's film will have its world premiere in the Directors' Fortnight sidebar and be the director's fourth time in Cannes after his debut La Libertad in Un Certain Regard in 2001, and Los Muertos and Fantasma in the Directors' Fortnight programmes of 2004 and 2006.

Produced by Alonso's 4L Production in co-production with Eddie Saeta SRL (Spain), Black Forest Film (Germany), Slot Machine (France) and Fortuna Films (Holland), Liverpool follows a man returning home to Patagonia after twenty years at sea to visit his mother and discovering that a girl has become part of the family instead of him.

The Match Factory's other titles in the festival's official sections are: the Competition film Waltz With Bashir by Ari Folman and three Un Certain Regard films - Cloud 9 (Wolke 9) by Andreas Dresen, O'Horten by Bent Hamer, and Tulpan by Sergey Dvortsevoy.
