The deal was closed on Friday in Berlin. The historical drama, directed by Vladimir Bortko, is currently in post-production and will be unveiled to buyers in the Cannes market.
The film is based on a Nikolai Gogol story and is set in the middle of the 16th century as Cossacks prepare for a campaign against Poland.
Valery Todorovsky's musical romance Hipsters is another Central Partnership title likely to be unveiled in the Cannes market. A musical about young, sexually liberated jazz fans in the 1950s who poked fun at the Soviet authorities, the film has already been a popular success in Russia, earning $15 million at the local box-office while also provoking heated debate.
Other Central Partnership titles in Berlin include Russia's Oscar entry Mermaid, thriller The Ghost, which had its world premiere in Toronto, spy movie Man Of The East and action adventure Revenge, which has made over $13 million at the local box office.
Central Partnership has also sold the film to Phars in the Middle East.
