TLA Releasing has acquired all North American and UK rights from Filmax to Juan Flahn's Spanish comedy Boystown (Chuecatown) and plans a late 2008 release in North America.

The madcap story centres on an estate agent who murders elderly women and offers their apartments to upwardly mobile gay couples in a madcap scheme to transform the area into a 'gaybourhood'. Pablo Puyol, Carlos Fuentes, Pepon Nieto, and Concha Velasco star.

TLA Releasing's vice president of acquisitions Jennifer Arndt-Johns brokered the deal with Filmax's head of international division sales Vicente Canales.

'Boystown is a vibrant comedy which continues to show Spain's diversity and acceptance of all lifestyles,' Arndt-Johns said.

'The film is pure, comic entertainment filled with sharp dialogue, energetic performances and a playful sense of fun, making it a guaranteed audience pleaser.'

'We are proud to be working with TLA Releasing in the US and the UK,' Canales said. 'This is an entertaining and friendly comedy, we are confident that the audience will enjoy it.'
