French distributor ARP Selection has acquired all rights to Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) opener Eye In The Sky from Fortissimo Films.

Produced by Hong Kong's Milkyway Image for Sundream Motion Pictures, the film is the directorial debut of award-winning scriptwriter Yau Nai Hoi whose credits include Johnnie To's Election.

The deal with ARP was concluded at Hong Kong Filmart by Fortissimo co-chairman Wouter Barendrecht and ARP's Michele Halberstadt. 'ARP's passion for Asian cinema is intense and we were delighted with recent collaboration on Shanghai Dreams and our continued association,' said Barendrecht.

Halberstadt said: 'We were blown away by Eye In The Sky. It's a fast-paced and intense thriller, wonderfully acted, beautifully framed, which manages to capture the hectic pulse of Hong Kong.'

Eye In The Sky, which is one of two films opening the HKIFF along with Park Chan-wook's I'm A Cyborg, But That's OK, recently had its world premiere in Berlin.
