Geoffrey Rush, riding high on critical acclaim for his role in The King’s Speech, will receive the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s Montecito Award.

Rush, who plays the speech therapist Lionel Logue in The King’s Speech opposite Colin Firth, will collect the honour at a tribute on January 31 2011.

The Montecito Award goes to a performer “who has given a series of classic and standout performances in his/her career.” Rush won the leading actor Academy Award in 1997 for Shine.
