Element Films International(EFI) has closed a raft of deals on thepsychological thriller MrBrooks starring Kevin Costner in theunlikely role of a compulsive killer.

The co-production of LosAngeles-based Element Films, Costner's TIGProductions and ThomasAugsberger's Eden Rock Media is currentlyshooting in the US.

Bruce A Evans directs thestory of a jaded killer pursued by thepolice who is urged to continue bya dark alter ego while beingblackmailed by an aspiring protege.

MGM holds US rights on MrBrooks, which also stars Demi Moore,WilliamHurt, Marg Helgenberger, Danielle Panabaker and US comedian DaneCook. Evans wrote the screenplaywith Raynold Gideon.

Rights have gone to HoytsDistribution for Australia, Manga Films forSpain, Flashstar Pictures forBrazil, Alliance Atlantis Motion PictureDistribution LP for Canada, RCV2001 for Benelux, and Lizard Cinema Trade for CIS

Further deals were signedwith Svensk Filmindustri for Scandinavia,Pasatiempo Pictures for LatinAmerica, Revolutionary Releasing forEastern Europe, Forum Films for Israel,Aqua Group for Turkey, ItaliaFilm International for the Middle East,Hollywood Entertainment forGreece, EcoFilmes/Prisvideo for Portugal, andSAMFilm for Iceland.

Jim Wilson, Raynold Gideonand Costner are producing. ElementFilms owner Sam Nazarian, AdamRosenfelt, Marc Schaberg andAugsberger serve as executive producers.

EFI chief John Fremes willshow early footage to buyers and is alsoselling the rock and rollmockumentary Boy Town and drama TheLastTime, which stars MichaelKeaton, Brendan Fraser and Amber Valetta.

Element has a nine-picturedeal with Lionsgate under which Lionsgatewill release domestically andEFI will handle overseas.
