Jury to be headed up by directors Richard Linklater and Sally Potter

 Audiences with online access can vote for their favourite short film ahead of the 3rdBabelgum Online Film Festival (BOFF3), which culminates with an awards ceremony and screenings of the films on April 28 at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Over two hundred and fifty short films are now accessible to anyone with Internet access or Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, and/or Google Android mobile devices.

Audience Awards will be given to the films which receive the highest number of votes in four categories – narrative shorts, non narrative short, animation shorts and docuemtnary shorts.

Other awards include the Stoli emerging filmmaker award and the best viral short award, which has a cash prize of $2000.

The $6000 grand jury award will be voted for by jury members including Before Sunrise writer/director Richard Linklater, Rage director Sally potter, The Devil Came On Horseback director Annie Sundberg and Requiem For A Dream producer EricWatson.  There will be a further four jury prizes with cash prizes of $3000 each.

Karol Martesko-Fenster, SVP and General Manager of the Babelgum Film Division, said: “We started BOFF with the intention of supporting and highlighting the work of globally based independent filmmakers, who have found it increasingly difficult to distribute top-quality films via traditional platforms. Once again, the volume and quality of submissions to the festival proves that independent filmmakers are excited to have found a unique new place to showcase their short-form work.”
