Taika Waititi’s road movie has found a North American home as The Orchard paid in the region of $2m for Hunt For The Wilderpeople following its debut in Premieres last Friday.

Sam Neil and Julian Dennison star in the coming-of-age tale from the director of What We Do In The Shadows.

The story centres on a young rebel and his uncle who go for a trek in the New Zealand bush and trigger a national manhunt.

The Orchard plans a theatrical release and brokered the deal with CAA and Protagonist Pictures on behalf of the filmmakers.
