Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) is directing from a screenplay by J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5, Changeling,Thor) and Matthew Michael Carnahan (The Kingdom, Lions For Lambs).

Pitt’s Plan B is producing with David Ellison’s Skydance Productions. Apparatus, Paramount and Mumbai-based UTV Motion Pictures also have hands in the project.

World War Z is an adaptation of Max Brooks’ novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War. Brooks announced at Comic-Con last summer that Paramount had also optioned his books The Zombie Survival Guide and The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks.

Paramount plans to release the film in 2014.
