Veteran producer Joel B Michaels has been named president of production at The Halcyon Company, it was announced today by co-CEOs Victor Kubicek and Derek Anderson

Michaels, who is currently serving as executive producer on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles for TV, joins the company immediately and will oversee Terminator Salvation which recently completed principal photography in New Mexico.

Michaels was formerly president of production at Andy Vajna and Mario Kassar's C-2 Pictures, where he produced Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines, Basic Instinct 2 and I Spy.

He also worked as president of Kassar's Paramount-based MK Productions from 1996 to 1998. He produced several films for Vajna and Kassar's Carolco Pictures including Adrian Lyne's Lolita and Roland Emmerich's Universal Soldier and Stargate for Carolco.

Michaels served as president of production and distribution at Cineplex Odeon Films from 1986 to 1990 where he put films into production including Stephen Frears' The Grifters, Oliver Stone's Talk Radio, James Ivory's Mr And Mrs Bridge, John Schlesinger's Madame Sousatzka and Martin Scorsese's The Last Temptation Of Christ.

'Joel comes from a background entrenched not only in the Terminator franchise, but in the sort of iconic projects integral to our creative vision and business model, said Kubicek and Anderson in a joint statement.

The Halcyon Company is a privately financed development, production and financing outfit which exploded onto the Hollywood radar when it acquired all rights in relationship to the Terminator franchise in May 2007.
