Shanghai fest unveils jury and projects line-up

Actress Heather Graham, producer Terence Chang and Hungarian filmmaker Bela Tarr are among the jury members for the Golden Goblet Awards at the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival (June 16-24).

The Golden Goblet Awards are SIFF’s main competition section. The seven-strong jury will be chaired by French filmmaker Jean-Jacques Annaud and also include Iranian filmmaker Rakhshan Banietemad, Chinese actress Li Bingbing (Snow Flower And The Secret Fan) and Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yang (Full Circle).

SIFF has also announced the line-up for its SIFF Project Market (June 17-20). Eight Chinese projects and 25 Chinese-foreign co-production projects were selected from 206 submissions.

The eight Chinese projects include Arrival, from Golden Horse and SIFF Asian New Talent award winner Teng Yung-shing, to be produced by Hou Hsiao-hsien’s 3H Productions; Chen Tao’s Rainbow, to be produced by Jia Zhangke’s Xstream Pictures, and Li Yang’s To Kill A Demon.

Among the 25 international projects are Taiwanese filmmaker Lin Yu-hsien’s The Fantastic Journey Of Perfume Guay; Lin Shu-yu’s Her Second Wedding, to be produced by Doze Niu’s Honto Production; Canadian filmmaker Paolo Barzman’s All That Matters, and Japanese filmmaker Otsuka Ryuji’s Japan-China co-production Chaipan.

SIFF will also present 12 industry forums on co-production, China-US film co-operation, entertainment marketing and film production for new media. Speakers include Star Wars producer Gary Kurtz, scriptwriter William Monahan (The Departed), Fox’s executive director for product placement Kevin Arnold and Chinese filmmaker Feng Xiaogang.
