Lionsgate’s action smash has grossed more in North America than any film in the Twilight series and stands at $459.9m worldwide.

Katniss and Co took advantage of the holiday weekend to pull in a further $33.5m from 4,137 theatres in its third weekend.

Universal’s American Reunion marks a return for the American Pie collective and the film opened in second place on $21.5m. Fox’s re-release of Titanic in 3D ranked third on $17.4m.

Universal’s Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is on the cusp of $200m after six weekends and stablemate Safe House re-entered the top ten in its ninth weekend and stands at $124.8m.

Salmon Fishing In The Yemen stands at $4.6m after five and expanded by 41 to 524 theatres.

The Raid: Redemption climbed ten places to eleventh in its third weekend and has amassed $1.3m through SPC. The distributor opened Damsels In Distress on $64,200 from four and IFC opened Cannes 2011 competition entry We have A Pope on $31,500 from three.

Next weekend Lionsgate launches horror-comedy The Cabin In The Woods, while FilmDistrict opens the action sci-fi Lockout and Fox releases The Three Stooges.
