Jeff Lipsky’s fledgling distributor has picked up its second film following its world premiere in Toronto last month.

Canadian filmmaker Emond’s feature directorial debut Nuit #1 will open theatrically in late July 2012 after Lipsky brokered the deal with Paris-based WIDE Management’s head of international sales and acquisitions Clémentine Hugot.

“Anne’s stunningly successful debut film is impossibly smart, raw, and sexy,” Lipsky said. “Its emotional tendrils draw the audience in and hold them in their grip like few others. Anne is truly a formidable and exciting new talent.

“We expect Nuit #1 is going to have moviegoing couples leaving pheromone trails in theatres all summer long, and hope that Nuit #1 marks the first success in a fruitful and ongoing collaboration between Adopt Films and Ms Émond.”

Nuit #1 is part of WIDE Management’s Eye On Films label featuring work from first and second-time filmmakers designed to appeal to festivals and distributors.

Catherine De Léan and Dimitri Storoge play a couple who meet at a rave and embark on a passionate night of sex and emotional honesty. Émond wrote the screenplay and Nancy Grant of Metafilms produced.

Adopt Films’ first pick-up was Marie Losier’s The Ballad Of Genesis And Lady Jaye, which will open on Mar 8 2012.
